No, he didn't even cut through the sandwich.)

(He was thrilled when he realized he could cut it into SEVEN pieces!)

he wouldn't want to actually TOUCH the crust . . .

Note: If I were to actually cut off the crust, he would then avoid the imaginary crust around the outside - and still not eat the edges.

Why is that? I have cut the crust off for kids I've babysat in the past, and they still don't eat the edges either. Personally, I am confused.
