Our Halloween Adventure

Wow, it was a glorious fall day. It was so beautiful, we went for a nature walk with the kids and found this . . .

Snowman totem poles

and a grasshopper.

Then we went back into town to get something to eat and in true Halloween style this was staring at us through the window of the restaurant . . .

(cue freaky Halloween music . . . .)

Did you scream? Did you? Did you?

Muuahaaaaa . . .

Apparently praying mantis' live in WI . . .

This guy is 4 inches long!

We named him Luther - in honor of Reformation week . . .

And no, I doubt I'll be sleeping well tonight with visions of those beady eyes staring at me . . .

Suddenly, Clark has been forgotten . . . this pet doesn't shed, smell or poop . . . but now those characteristics don't sound so bad compared to this alternative . . .

I think what makes him so eerie is that his head turns toward the camera and he looks AT YOU... not pleasant bug behavior... eye contact-- that's just weird.

And he really does do that . . . turn and look at you. . . I generally just stand there in awe of such a creature and then shudder at the creepiness of God's clever creation . . . .
