I was tired . . .

sooooo tired . . . sleepy, worthless tired . . .

so I went for a walk.

I really wanted to wake up . . . so I took the two littlest honyocks with me.

I walked . . . .

They ran . . .

I walked . . .

They waited for me to walk faster . . .

. . . trust me . . . I only "walk faster" . . . you don't want to see me run.

I walked . . .

They talked . . .
"Mom, I don't want to live in an apartment because they don't have a downstairs - in case a tornado comes."
"Mom, (insert friend's name) basement is . . . AWESOME . . . "

"Mom, how does the mailman know which house to bring the mail to? Does the envelope say 'the white house with the garage and bushes'? "

"Mom, is Elaine 'kind of' our cousin? It just doesn't make sense because Aunt Ruth isn't your sister."

I walked . . .

They played . . .

I walked . . .

They read . . ."Mom, I think it's a bad word . . . B .. u .. tt .. head . . . or something . . ."

. . . . and then I told them what it REALLY said . . .

I walked . . .

We saw . . .

All heading Northwest. Did someone change the migration rules recently or is this just another effect of global warming?

I walked . . .

and I woke up . . .

I love fall.

Pictures

We headed out recently for the excruciating task of attempting to get a family picture for our Christmas card. This year I tried to do it myself with a tripod and a remote for the camera.

Here is an idea of how well the photo session went . . .

"Here, Owen, let me fix your hair . . . "

"Carra, your too stiff. Try crossing your arms . . ."

"Ummm, okay, I better state that differently . . ."

Just had to share my perspective of Owen
being "encouraged" to stand still.
A little over-exposed, if you ask me . . .

"Ummm, Carra, I think you are in the way . . ."

Owen's "not-so-good" side. . .

Buff being "punished" for his side comments trying to make Brice smile.

So, in the end . . . here is our Christmas card picture for 2008 . . . I think it shares the true side of the Powers' family . . . .

Hot Chocolate Anyone!

AHHH Yes, Winter will soon be here. And with the imminent return of the crisp cold air to the Wisconsin Heartand, can't you just smell the warm wafting aroma of Hot Chocolate?
Doesn't it just remind you of a Christmas card moment?
A very similar event happened today. Ruth came downstairs to an aroma with a mixture of charcoal, ash and smoke as she entered the living room.
Obviously concerned, she entered the kitchen to the following site:
Our mild mannered child Aaron has developed a love for hot chocolate, and since he is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
compliant, he has never been a concern for us.
OK really! So he is an observer, and has watched how the hot chocolate was made, as well as where to make it.
When Ruth turned off the timer on the microwave, there were still 98 minutes remaining.

Colorado

Here are a few fun memories of our week with Buff's family.

Carra wants me to inform everyone that she has officially lost 2 teeth now. I am hoping I don't have to post about every tooth lost. . . Actually, Mikayla lost a molar too this week (Do you get the feeling that the theme this week was "teeth" . . .). Because hers had a filling in it, we are making her dress up in a tooth fairy costume and leave money under our pillow. I am not a sentimental person big on traditions, but I think this may be a good reason to start.

Brice and Mikayla are now officially old enough to learn to drive . . . the 4 -wheeler and go-kart. Of course, they were never allowed to take it out of first gear, so they never went fast enough to get into too much trouble.

Owen is officially old enough to drive Pansy . . . and without a "seat" too . . .

Buff . . . alo
Yes, we took this picture.
He was an impressive fella.

Byren
He is so photogenic . . .

Owen . . . or is that a scarecrow?

So which one is the pumpkin?

Mikayla and her green pumpkin . . .

If only I could have gotten him to smile,
they would have been twins!

This is the scarecrow Buff built . . .

This is the kid that Buff built . . .

A Few Random Shots

So, I've been playing with my new toy for a couple of weeks, and have fine tuned a few details on the operation of it. Here are a few new random shots:
(sorry there are so many, I've been busy)

Let me know what you think

Last, but not least, my personal favorite:
